Ecology & Environmental Science
The Department has expertise in Botany, Ecology, Entomology, Marine Biology, Spatial Information and Zoology, all of which inform our teaching and research training from undergraduate, through Honours/Masters, to PhD.
We provide a unique research environment in Ecology & Environmental Science.
Our graduates are in demand in a wide range of areas including:
- conservation of flora and fauna
- natural resource survey and monitoring
- environmental risk assessment
- catchment management
- environmental planning and management
- technology transfer and GIS analysis
- the management and restoration of marine, terrestrial and
- freshwater systems
The School maintains a wide range of equipment and facilities including a suite of strategically placed field stations on islands, on coasts and inland arid zones that promote field research. We are also partners in major collaborative initiatives such as the Arid Recovery ecosystem rehabilitation initiative and Marine Innovations SA (MISA.
As one of the Departments in the new School of Biological Sciences, we have access to an exciting and world class range of experts in our collaborating Departments within the School as well as elsewhere in the University, and share access to each other’s state of the art facilities.
