Molecular & Cellular Biology
The Department has expertise in providing science solutions to major health problems through Biochemistry, Microbiology, Virology and Immunology - all of which inform our teaching and research training from undergraduate, through Honours/Masters, to PhD.
We provide a unique research environment in Molecular & Cellular Biology.
Our graduates are in demand in many areas of biomedical research, specifically finding potential cures for major diseases such as:
- neurological disorders
- developmental abnormalities
- genetic and viral diseases
- chronic inflammatory diseases
- bacterial infections
Graduates also benefit from the Department’s Research Career Development Network.
The School maintains a wide range of equipment and facilities. We are also partners in major collaborative initiatives such as the Research Centre for Infectious Diseases and the Centre for Molecular Pathology.
As one of the Departments in the new School of Biological Sciences, we have access to an exciting and world class range of experts in our collaborating Departments within the School as well as elsewhere in the University, and share access to each other’s state of the art facilities.
