School of Biological Sciences

Research and teaching in the School of Biological Sciences spans the scale and breadth of the living world – from molecules, genes and cells, infectious agents; organisms and their environments; to broad habitats and landscapes that cover Earth, and its oceans. 

Our School encompasses the disciplines of Molecular and Biomedical Science and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. 

Our cutting-edge research themes guide our teaching programs. We train the next generation of biomedical researchers, biotechnologists, ecologists and evolutionary biologists to help them understand and improve human health, ascertain how evolution has shaped the present world, and safeguard our environment. This includes work undertaken within our invaluable Terrestrial Ecological Research Network
